Maps are wonderful for so many reasons. They’re inexpensive. They can be extremely meaningful. They say so much. And you probably have some laying around your house…

If travel is important to you, or you and your future hubs are from two different parts of the country/world, or if you’re having a destination wedding… or if you’re just looking for a little extra vintage awesomeness, consider incorporating vintage maps!

There are SO many DIY projects that you can create with maps. If you’re not the crafty type, you can also purchase similar items on Etsy or recruit friends/family to help you.

I found these map pinwheels on Etsy, but here is a simple DIY tutorial for making paper pinwheels. You could use them for decor or lose the sticks and they make cute boutonnieres. :)

How cute is this map heart garland? Also found on Etsy, but here is a very similar tutorial you could use, just substitute vintage maps instead of the paper.

These next two projects would be super easy to make. I love the table number idea because you could use different places that you have traveled to, or where you met, where you’re going on your honeymoon, etc. Would be a great convo starter at the table! The monograms are also super cool looking, and all they are wood letters with map glued on. You could use a piece of map from where you’re from for your initial and a map from where he’s from for his initial.

Looking to jazz up your envelopes? How about these vintage map envelope liners? Super easy to make– check out this simple tutorial.

If you love maps like I do, you must see this whimsical backyard wedding… it’s filled with so many fun + unique map details! How great is their cake table backdrop? And all of the hanging map hearts? So much love.

Maybe maps are meaningful to you, but you don’t necessarily want to display them all throughout your wedding…this bride decided to make her own map shoe liners! Such a unique idea, and makes for a pretty awesome photo, too.

If you’re not stuck on having a floral bouquet, consider making (or buying) your own vintage map bouquet! The possibilities are endless… there are SO many types of paper flowers you can make! Here is a fantastic collection of 50 paper flower tutorials. You can also make matching boutonnieres and corsages.

Lastly, here is a fun vintage map treat bag tutorial from Ruffled, which would be perfect for your wedding or party favors.

Do you love maps as much as I do? Are you going to be using them in your wedding at all? I’d love to hear about it!

Have a fabulous weekend, friends!

P.s. I am heading to Seattle on Sunday for a week to spend time with my family… I will still be updating Mon-Fri but posts may be a little bit later than usual because my mom doesn’t have internet at her house, so I’ll have to find some awesome coffee shops to do my blogging. :)
