Emily & Tim’s Grand Canyon Wedding

Posted by   Categories // Real Weddings

I have seen weddings in some pretty incredible locations… on cruise liners, in castles, on sandy beaches, in a hot air balloon, on top of mountains… but I have to say that Emily and Tim’s choice of location takes the cake! The couple eloped to Grand Canyon National Park in Northern Arizona with four family members from their home in Oklahoma, and had an intimate ceremony at Lipan Point on the South Rim.

I was blessed to see the Grand Canyon with my own eyes last June and it truly is an amazing, breath taking sight. I can’t even explain how beautiful it is so I will let the photos speak for themselves, captured by the talented Melissa Dunstan. Enjoy!

Can you imagine saying your vows looking out over this masterpiece? Wow.

The ceremony ended up happening an hour later than planned, but it turned into a blessing because the lighting during the ceremony was absolutely perfect! There is honestly nothing quite like a Grand Canyon sunset.

Talk about the perfect place to start your lives together! Thank you Melissa for sharing this fabulous elopement with us… everyone make sure to check out her blog to see more of her work!

Good morning and happy Memorial Day! So, good news: my computer came back on and we were able to back up all my files, so I didn’t end up losing anything… YAY! :) I am pretty sure I will still need to get a new hard drive, but my computer is still working which I am very happy about. Maybe it was just a glitch after all? Who knows… anyway, I am so excited to share today’s wedding with you; it’s absolutely stunning and full of so many fantastic details! Remember this red + aqua inspiration board from a couple weeks ago? Well, this wedding brings those lovely colors to life in a whole new way.

Jayme and Travis celebrated their big day at the Peacock Inn in Charlotte, North Caroline. Lucy Parker (who I am now a huge fan of!) captured the gorgeous photos–make sure to check out her blog to see loads more photos from the wedding. Lucy said, “I have had so much fun working with Jayme and seeing her dreams turn into a reality with all of her hard work and effort from having her hand touched on every single element!  This girl I am determined needs to be a wedding planner after how well she did with her own fabulous day!”

You can tell just by looking at the photos how much crazy work was put into every detail… I mean look at the incredible ceremony backdrop (mad props to Travis)! And get this…. Jayme’s stunning dress? No, it’s not Allure Bridals or Melissa Sweet… Jayme’s mom made it herself! Wow. Jayme incorporated several elements from Etsy (such as the flower girl dresses), as well as ideas she found on wedding blogs, and made her dreams come true. I am super impressed. Enjoy the photos!

So in love with this ceremony backdrop, put together by the groom himself. He also set up a wooden lemonade stand… too cute! You can see photos of it on Lucy’s blog.

I still can’t believe Jayme’s mom made her dress. I seriously thought it was an Allure dress when I saw it :)

Love the chalkboard mason jar table numbers from Etsy… another detail I wrote about last week!

Such a gorgeous brooch on her bouquet. The perfect touch of bling if you ask me!

Congratulations Jayme and Travis–all your hard work certainly paid off!! And a huge thank you to Lucy for sharing these fantastic photos with us! They are an inspiration to DIY brides everywhere. :)

Thursday Tips: Decorating the Getaway Car

Posted by   Categories // Advice

Before I start, I just want to emphasize the importance of assigning someone to this task, instead of just assuming it will get taken care of. It’s typically covered by the groomsmen, but definitely doesn’t have to be! I learned the hard way, and was surprised to see my friends frantically writing “Just Married” on our back window with a bar of soap! Haha. Don’t get me wrong, it was awesome, but I was picturing the whole streamers and tin cans bit… oh well. You win some, you lose some. I figure you guys can learn from my experiences. ;)

Okay, on to the getaway car fun!

How about a classy yet simple “Just Married” bow? Via Peach and Pearl.

Here’s a great tutorial for this rustic Just Married sign from Ruffled.

I love this look, and it’s so easy to do! Streamers, ribbon, string, and cans, and you’re good to go. Found on Style Me Pretty.

This hand written Just Married sign can be purchased right here on Etsy, and the pom poms would be a fun DIY project. Aren’t they adorable!?

Here’s a great idea that I hadn’t seen before–a DIY spare tire cover! This one is exceptionally cute, I love the little orange flowers. Photo by Rustin Michael.

I am in love with these paper bow ties! They would be so easy to make and they are so fun and colorful. Found on Pink Blossom List.

This is so classy… just a simple hand written Just Married sign, and the trunk bursting with presents, of course! Photo by Jose Villa.

Here’s another easy tutorial from My DIY Wedding Day for this adorable Just Married banner.

More fun colorful pom pom garland… love it! Here’s the simple how-to from Martha Stewart Weddings.

What is your favorite way to decorate the getaway car?

P.s. thanks for being patient with me and my computer situation!! :)

Technology is failing me right now…

Hey guys! So, I have some unfortunate news… I was about half way through today’s Thursday Tips post when my computer’s hard drive decided to crash. Great timing, right? So… my macbook is useless right now and I will hopefully be purchasing a new hard drive within the next couple of days. Thankfully I am able to use my hubby’s computer for the time being so I will do my best to get the posts up (although they may be later than usual). I will try to have my Thursday Tips up by this afternoon/evening after I get home from work, so check back!

Thank you sooo much for understanding! I really appreciate everyone who checks my blog on a regular basis, you guys rock my world! I promise things will be back to normal soon :)

Have a wonderful day friends!
