Welcome to my first edition of Thursday Tips! I am teaming up with several other lovely wedding bloggers to bring you quality tips and advice for all aspects of the big day. I am excited about this because I had started doing Thursday budget tips a couple months back, and this is a great way to continue on with that visiont. Make sure to check out the bottom of the post to see the other wedding blogs taking part in this weekly venture!
So for my first Thursday Tips post, I wanted to focus on something that I feel strongly about and that I try to portray throughout my blog. I think it is so important for couples to incorporate their personalities into their wedding, however that may be –whether it’s through their reception decor, their cake, their play list, or even their guest book. There are so many ways to take your wedding above and beyond to a truly uniquely-you affair. I have been so inspired by several of the couples I’ve featured on BT&B who really embraced this concept and made their wedding one of a kind.
The possibilities are endless, but I wanted to give you a starting point of some ideas to incorporate your personalities and your passions in to your big day. First, sit down with your future hubs and discuss what makes you tick, what means the most to you, what gets you going. For example, some couples absolutely love to travel. So, they might use maps and vintage luggage as reception decor, postcards for their guest book, luggage tags as escort cards, or globes as centerpieces, to name a few. Some couples adore the movies, so they send out movie ticket invites, serve popcorn at the reception, use film reels as centerpieces, and play a “movie” of the couple for guests to watch after dinner.

Even if you don’t necessarily want an overarching theme for your big day, there are still plenty of ways to incorporate who you are into the smaller details. Let’s say you two met at a minor league baseball game. What about having guests sign a baseball bat for your “guest book?” Or maybe your first date was at a roller skating rink… how cute would a custom-made cake topper of a couple wearing roller skates be? (Ok, I admit it… me and my husband met at a roller rink. Although the cake topper didn’t happen… but trust me, I thought about it!) Or maybe you love photography, so you DIY amazing film invitations. It’s all about being creative and leaving a lasting impact on your guests. I could go on and on listing different ideas, but the point is to figure out something that is uniquely you and your groom. You want people to leave your wedding thinking “that was so them!”

Thursday Tips: Make it Uniquely You
What a great way to decorate a table. The globe and the film are perfect for world travelers! I do agree with this sentence “figure out something that is uniquely you and your groom. You want people to leave your wedding thinking “that was so them!” Awesome post!
What an awesome beginning to this series, Becky! This one tip is the one that all couples should start with- you’re so right, guests should leave with “that was so them!” in their heads.
This is so true! I love going to weddings that really put the couples’ personalities on display. We participated in Thursday Tips this week too. :)
